MY GRACE IS SUFFICIENT FOR YOU Fsâ Ir] \n\¡p aXn BY: REV. FR. DR. K.M. GEORGE AND MRS. MARIAM PHILIP GEORGE
|
 |
When one of us was inflicted with a serious illness, we had the great opportunity to enjoy the abundant grace of God and to experience the loving and healing touch of Jesus. A huge cloud of people, known, unknown, familiar and unfamiliar, near and far collectively prayed for us. By this spiritual comfort of prayer and love we enjoyed, we had the chance to mingle with diseased of similar nature and partake in their hardships and pain. This small prayer book is a token of our sharing through prayer with those brethren who are on sick bed. [K.M.G. & M. P. G.]

The healing power of faithful prayers is enormous. There are many who get healing from serious illness by the faith, hope and love in Lord Jesus Christ. This small prayer book prepared out of the life experience of George Achen and Kochamma is very delightful. This book as collection of appeasing words from Bible and early church documents, pertinent portions from Gospel etc., put all together is very useful for the sick. I extend all blessings for this attempt of creation of this prayer book.

It is always the will of God that His creation should be happy and blissful. The pain and distress came for the creation by the fall of man. Healing of sick is a part of the salvation plan of God. When this salvation process is accomplished, the tabernacle of God will remain among men, and He will dwell among them, and they shall be His people, and God Himself will be among them and He will wipe away every tear from their eyes; and there will no longer be any death; there will no longer be any mourning, or crying, or pain.
|
The bitterness and negetive attitude associated with sickness becomes a hindrance for the healing. The time of sickness is apt occasion to recollect the benevolence and providence we received from God and thank Him for everything. No human is immune to sickness. We should pray for all those who are with us for help near our sick bed. We should be prepared to accept the will of God very graciously what ever it may be. This attitude inculcate hope and joy in our life even in worst scenario sickness and pain.

Man get the fundamental informations about this world through his/her five organs. Eye, Ear, Tongue, Nose and Skin are the five organs which act as doors for the body. It is that information which we receive through these door, which further configures for mental depiction. Parallel to these five external organs, there are five internal spiritual organs which gives us the insight about God. If we defile our external organs the power of the internal organs will be lost.

If anyone among you sick, he must call for the elders of the church and they are to pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord; and the prayer offered in faith will restore the one who is sick, and the Lord will raise him up, and if he has committed sins, they will be forgiven him. The right hand of Lord heals our every organs.

Be gracious to me, O God, according to Your lovingkindness; According to the greatness of Your compassion blot out my transgressions. Wash me thoroughly from my iniquity And cleanse me from my sin. Create in me a clean heart, O God, And renew a steadfast spirit within me. Do not cast me away from Your presence And do not take Your Holy Spirit from me. Restore to me the joy of Your salvation And sustain me with a willing spirit.
|
Have mercy on me, O God,
According to your unfailing love;
According to your great compassion
Blot out my transgressions.
Wash away all my iniquity
And cleanse me from my sin.

Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I fear no evil, for You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me. On the day I called, You answered me; You made me bold with strength in my soul. The LORD is my light and my salvation; Whom shall I fear? The LORD is the defense of my life; Whom shall I dread? Though a host encamp against me, My heart will not fear; Though war arise against me, In spite of this I shall be confident.

Seek not what you will eat and what you will drink, and do not keep worrying. For all these things the nations of the world eagerly seek; but your Father knows that you need these things. But seek His kingdom, and these things will be added to you. Do not be afraid, little flock, for your Father has chosen gladly to give you the kingdom.

World is entering an age of new slavery. Globalization is simply an euphemism for this neo-slavery. It is a highly sophisticated contemporary counterpart of the old imperial order. The tremendous scientific and technological progress we have achieved in information and biotechnologies is not a guarantee that our civilization will survive and survive well. In fact our scientific progress needs a cultural support system to function. We need to keep institution and charisma in proper balance. Finally, we need to shape a new time and a new space for the new millennium.

Christ centered tradition of the church of turning to the east in prayer is part of the rich heritage of the Orthodox Church. We build our churches in the east-west direction. The whole congregation together with the priest turns to east in remembrance of all that God grants us from the time of our creation in Paradise to the fulfillment of all in the Second coming of Christ. The bodies of our beloved departed faithful are laid to rest facing the east with the hope of resurrection and meeting Jesus face to face.

The most important two ideals of the Mahatma Gandhi were Satyagraha and Ahimsa. Ahimsa is the doctrine of refraining from harming any living being. Ahimsa is one of the cardinal virtues and an important tenet of Jainism. Satyagraha is a term coined by Gandhi on his own. The way of Satyagraha was experimented by Gandhi in South Africa and then followed it in India for the Freedom Struggle. Satyagraha literally means “hold onto the truth.” So, true Satyagraha needs purification of body, mind and spirit. It is the philosophy of nonviolent resistance to authorities.
