H. H. BASALIOS MARTHOMA MATHEWS III - CATHOLICOSE OF MALANKARA ORTHODOX CHURCH
H.H. Baselios Marthoma Mathews III is the Ninth Catholicos of the East in Malankara succeeding H.H. Baselios Marthoma Paulose II the Eighth Catholicos of the East in Malankara who departed for heavenly abode on July 2021. As a key advancement of the epoch, Episcopal synod of the Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church (MOSC) held at Church headquarters in Devalokam in Kottayam presided over by the eldest Metropolitan Kuriakose Mar Cleemmis, has unanimously nominated Dr. Mathews Mar Saverios as the Catholicos designate and the Supreme Head of the Church. All 24 Metropolitans present in the synod had cheered on the decision. Mar Saverios was the Metropolitan of the Diocese of Kandanad West and the Diocese of Kottayam Central. He is also the former secretary of the Episcopal Synod.

MOST REV. DR. THEODOSIUS MARTHOMA METROPOLITAN
Rt. Rev. Dr Geevarghese Mar Theodosius Suffragan Metropolitan is consecrated as the Marthoma Metropolitan succeeding Most Rev. Dr. Joseph Marthoma Metropolitan who departed for heavenly abode on 18 October 2020. The enthronement ceremony was held on 14 November, 2020 at the Church headquarters at Thiruvalla. Marthoma Metropolitan is the prelate and supreme head of Marthoma Church. The ordination ceremony was conducted under the general guidance and blessings of apostolic succession of Most Rev. Philipose Mar Chrysostom Marthoma Valiya Metropolitan and head of Malabar Independent Syrian Church Cyril Mar Baselios as the chielf celebrants, in the presence of all other Episcopas of the Marthoma Church. The function was held abiding to Covid-19 protocol of the State. The ecclesiastical title given to the newly consecrated prelate is Theodosius Marthoma Metropolitan.

DOCTORATE AWARDED TO REV. FR. SANTHOSH JOSHUA:
[Kottayam July 1, 2015] Rev Fr. Varghese (Santhosh) K. Joshua, a member of Njaliamkuzhi Mar Ivanios Dayara, is awarded with Doctorate in Theology by the Dharmaram Vidya Kshetram Bangalore (DVK) which is a Pontifical Athenaeum for higher learning and formation. The theme of his Doctoral Program was based on the subject ‘Church, the Bride of Christ’ in the writings of Jacob of Serugh, one of the foremost Syriac poet-theologians. Fr. Santhosh had already achieved his M.T.H. from Serampore University based on his study of Early Church Fathers, M.A. in Theology from Baltimore St. Mary’s University USA and M.A. in Syriac language from Mahatma Gandhi University, Kerala.

It was the Saintly Metropolitan H.G. Geevarghese Mar Ivanios of Blessed Memory who could foresee the call of Fr. Santhosh for the spiritual vocation and picked up as his disciple. Fr. Santhosh strictly follows the footsteps of his Guru in all walks of life. In spite of the busy schedule of his doctoral program he chose to be with his fatherly Bishop to look after and minister him during his last months of life and turned out fortunate to be present on his bedside during heavenly call of Ivanios Thirumeni.

His latest assignment is as the pioneer coordinator of Sopana under the leadership of our Church Scholar Rev. Fr. Dr. K.M. George. Santhosh Achen has done an exemplary contribution to Sopana to reach out the motives and activities of the organization to a large extend of the world. He is the former Vicar of St. Thomas Orthodox Church, Washington DC, USA.

Fr. Dr. Santhosh Joshua is son of Kizhakkemannil P.C. Joshua and Marykutty of Kadeestha Church, Thumpamon North.

Congratulations to Fr. Dr. Santhosh Joshua in this great achievement. Achen turned out to be a great asset of our Holy Church to take up bigger and more responsible assignments of our Church.

40TH SACERDOTAL ORDINATION ANNIVERSARY OF VERY REV. K. MATHAI COR-EPISCOPA
St. Gregorios Indian Orthodox Church, Philadelphia, celebrated the 40th sacerdotal ordination anniversary of their founder Vicar and spiritual leader, Very Rev. K. Mathai Cor-Episcopa on 25th December, the Christmas day of 2015 with befitting solemnity. The ceremonial congregational meeting was convened in the Parish worship hall after the Nativity Service. The auspicious celebration was presided over by H.G. Zacharias Mar Nicholovos, Diocesan Metropolitan of North East American Diocese.

NEWLY ORDAINED FR. GEEVARGHESE JOHN
Rev. Dn. Geevarghese John is ordained to priesthood on March 26, 2011 at St. Thomas Church Philadelphia. Both Mor Barnabas and Mor Nicholovos thirumenis were present. Mor Nicholovos was the celebrant and Valiya thirumeni esteemed the occasion by his blessed sermon. More than 30 clergies, deacons, priests and corepiscopos, participated. Seminarians, choir members parish MGOCSM/Focus, members and invitees, about 600 in numbers attended and blessed the ceremony. There was a short meeting to felicitate the new ordained. St.Thomas Indian Orthodox Church, Vicar MK Kuriakoseachen) MGOCSM of the same parish, MGOCSM Council members, also from Chicago, Houston, etc honored with special presents on the occasion.

TEN YEARS OF EXCELLENCE [ICON] INDIAN ORTHODOX CHRISTIAN NETWORK
Indian Christian Orthodox Network (ICON) is a network for the members of the Indian Orthodox Church (Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church, Kerala) and its well wishers who are scattered around the globe. Though the ICON group is not initiated or sponsored by the Holy Church, by its merits of its own, it became an icon and reflection of the believers of the Church. Creating and staging an electronic platform for interaction, sharing of ideas and thoughts and even giving free air for fit of temper, the forum keep growing in the size as a large group with around 10000 members into its fold, contributing towards sapient, contemplative and spiritual drill amongst the members of the Church. The contemporary year 2010 is a special year for ICON as it is celebrating the 10th year of its inception.

H. H. BASALIOS MARTHOMA PAULOSE II CATHOLICOSE OF MALANKARA ORTHODOX CHURCH
It is indeed an honor and privilege for me to write about H.H. Basalios Marthoma Paulose II to felicitate Thirumeni in connection with ordination and elevation as the Catholicose of Malankara Orthodox Church. On 2nd November 2010, Catholicose designate H.B. Paulose Mar Milithios was consecrated as the eighth Catholicose of Malankara Orthodox Church (MOC), after the establishment of Catholicate in India during 1912. The Consecration ceremony was held at St. Peter and St.Paul Church at Parumala where the first Indian Christian declared saint St. Geevarghese Mar Gregorios is entombed. The ecclesiastical title of the New Catholicose is H.H. Basalios Marthoma Paulose II. Mar Basalios Poulose II succeeded the seventh Catholicose, Mar Basalios Didimos I.

P. THOMAS AWARD FOR PROF. MENACHERY
We are proud to announce that the third P. Thomas Award for History will be presented to noted historian Prof. George Menachery. The date and venue of presentation will be announced later. The Award Committee consisted of Dr. C. K. Thomas (Chairman), Prof. Dr. P. V. Krishnan Nair (Expert Member), and Prof. V. P. Jones (Official Member).The previous Awards had gone to Prof. A. Sreedhara Menon (2006), and Dr. M. G. S. Narayanan (2007). The annual P. Thomas Award consisting of a citation, a crystal shield, and an amount of Rs. 11,111 has been instituted by the P. Thomas Foundation, Thrissur in honour of the well known Indo- Anglian writer and historian P. Thomas.

KCBC DARSHANIK VYJNANIKA AWARD PRSENTED TO CHEV. PROF. GEORGE MENACHERY
KCBC Darshanika Vyjnanika Award for 2008 was presented to Chev. Prof. George Menachery by HE Mar Thomas Chakiath, Chairman of the KCBC Media Commission, on 25th January 2009 at POC Auditorium, Kochi (Ernakulam). Chev. Professor Menachery is an esteemed author of Light of Life Magazine and many of his enlightening articles are there in the Archives. The entire LOL family cherishes this honor and extends felicitations.

MOST. REV. BASALIOS CLEMMEESE MAJOR ARCHBISHOP
Arch Bishop Most Rev. Isaac Mar Clemmees was consecrated as the second Major Archbishop of the Trivandrum Arch Diocese and Prelate of the Malankara Catholic Church on Monday, March 5, 2007 in St. Mary's Cathedral at Pattom, Trivandrum. The ordination function was in the presence of the dignitaries inclusive of Apostolic Nuncio Archbishop Pedro Lopez Quintana, CBCI President Cardinal Telesphore Toppo, CCBI President Archbishop Oswald Gracis and Major Archbishop of Syro-Malabar Church Cardinal Varkey Vithayathil. The ecclesiastical name conferred to the Major Arch Bishop is Baselios Clemmees. The new prelate of the Church is of 48 years and he is the youngest to occupy the highest office of the Church since its inception.
